From my hands to your needles: The story of Rúnja

My name is Gitte, and I am the hands behind RúnjaCrafts. I live in Aarhus, but my roots run deep into the Jutland soil and a family tradition where idle hands were rare.

I come from a lineage of strong women who for generations have shown their love through yarn. My grandmother taught me to knit and crochet when I was a child, and although I may not be as technically skilled as she was, I have inherited her deep fascination with the creative possibilities hidden in every skein of yarn.

Luxury should be used – not hidden away

RúnjaCrafts emerged from a desire to make luxury fibers accessible. I have always loved the feel of silk, cotton, and soft wool between my fingers, but I often felt that the price of hand-dyed yarn made it something you only dared to use for very special occasions.

I want to change that. I believe that luxury should be for everyday use.

 

To make this possible, I work a little differently than the big stores:

I hunt for forgotten treasures: I love finding "deadstock" – exclusive batches of, for example, silk and cotton, which large houses and the fashion industry have left over. This allows me to offer you top-quality materials at a price where you can treat yourself without a guilty conscience.

Genuine unique pieces: Because I source small quantities, my collections are truly special. Once a color is gone, it's often gone forever. This makes your knitwear completely unique, something no one else has.

No detours: By skipping agents and expensive intermediaries, I can pass the savings directly to your knitting basket.

The passion in every stitch

 

In my dye workshop in Aarhus, I transform yarn in small batches with professional dyes and create stitch markers from beads and charms and other items for your yarn work. Every single skein is handled and cared for by me before it is sent to you.

 

 

For me, success is not having the highest prices, but seeing the yarn come to life in your hands. I would rather pack many packages for you every day and know that my craft is becoming beautiful sweaters, shawls, and socks in homes, than wait for the "perfect" sale.
