How do you capture the sound of an electric guitar, heartfelt vocals, and a pouring purple rain in wool and silk?

For me, it began by closing my eyes and letting the music dictate the colour palette. The deep, melancholic undertones of Purple Rain demanded a base of intense, dark purple – almost like a night sky in its depth. But the song also contains incredible vulnerability and light, which had to be translated into the finest, scattered nuances of lavender, dusty rose, and small glimpses of neon that hit the yarn like light flashes in the dark.

When I'm in the workshop with the dye pots, I work in layers. Just as music builds towards its epic climax, I let the colours melt together in random, vibrant patterns on the skeins. Each skein becomes its own little visual soundtrack.

When you let this yarn glide over your needles, you're not just knitting with colours – you're knitting with an emotion. Turn on the record player, find your calm, and watch the song unfold between your hands, stitch by stitch.

It has become exactly the sensory explosion I hoped for when the guitar tones played in the background of the workshop.
